WisCon Schedule!

A bit late to be posting this, given how many people are already arriving in Madison, but better late than never!  I’m getting in Friday night, arriving too late for dinner but (barring flight mishaps) not too late for the karaoke extravaganza.

I’m on two panels, both of which are in the Science and Technology track, possibly because I forgot to finish filling out the programming questionnaire before the deadline and only ever rated panels on this track.  Oh well!  My two panels:

  • Today’s Fiction, Tomorrow’s Stuff.  “In laboratories, there are now woven nanotubule fibers stronger than steel with 1/60th the weight. There are mimetic solids that reshape themselves when exposed to certain conditions. Will iPhones be woven into gloves? Will tomorrow’s band t–shirts show streaming video concert footage?”  Saturday, 10-11:15
  • The Interrelationship Between Feminist SF and Feminist Science.  “Can feminist SF have an effect on how science is done and interpreted in modern society?”  Sunday, 1-2:15.

And then, as always the Strange Horizons Tea Party.  This year is Strange Horizons‘ tenth anniversary (already!) and we’re going to have a birthday cake in addition to all of our other tasty goodies.

(I’ll also be checking in on the Academic Track presentations, because (little-known but true fact!) I’m the coordinator for academic programming, and I want to make sure all of the presenters are happy.  We have some great stuff lined up, so please do check out the academic presentations if you’ll be at WisCon this year.)

Other than that, the plan is to relax a little, have interesting conversations with fabulous people, recharge my enthusiasm for the science fiction world, drink some fancy drinks while looking out at the capitol building, see all of my friends from distant places.  Just a regular WisCon, basically.  I’ll see you all there!
